Collectively, the founders have driven innovations that have generated over $500 million in cumulative product revenue, treated over 200,000 patients worldwide, and created more than $1 billion in enterprise value across multiple MedTech companies.
Their deep expertise and shared vision continue to guide Lumivascular’s mission to redefine how physicians see and treat vascular disease and to improvise patient outcomes.

Himanshu Patel
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
​​Himanshu Patel founded Avinger and served as Chief Technology Officer from 2007 to 2025, where he led the development of image-guided catheters for treating peripheral vascular disease (PAD). With over 35 years of experience in medical device design—primarily for arterial disease—he has contributed to more than 200 patents, and his ideas have generated over $1 billion in shareholder value. ​​ Prior Experience: FoxHollow Technologies Led R&D efforts where he conceptualized and developed the Silverhawk line of catheters. These products generated over $180 million in annual revenue, and the company was acquired for $740 million. Silverhawk products remain among the leading tools at Medtronic for the treatment of PAD. EndoTex Interventional Systems Made key contributions toward the company’s success, which led to its acquisition by Boston Scientific for $100 million. General Surgical Led manufacturing efforts to facilitate rapid growth in the production of endoscopic devices.

Ajoy Khandheria
President & Co-Founder
​​Ajoy Khandheria holds an engineering degree from India and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. He brings over 15 years of leadership experience in the IT and telecom sectors, including senior marketing and sales roles at Harris Corporation and Italcable (Italy's national telecom provider). Since 2008, Ajoy has been a serial entrepreneur and early-stage investor, backing more than 15 startups across healthcare and technology. He has founded multiple healthcare ventures in the U.S. and India, with a focus on scalable service and device-based models. Ajoy also founded Gramin Healthcare, a social enterprise delivering primary care in rural India. The organization operates a network of clinics that provide free medical consultations to over 150,000 patients annually, creating measurable impact on scale.
